HOLCOMBE Brook A, Hawkshaw A and David Lloyd (Bolton) A have made 100 per cent starts to the new Mixed League Division One season.
Last year’s unbeaten champions, Holcombe Brook, have beaten Markland Hill A and Lostock A, while Hawkshaw A – runners-up last season – have wins against Markland Hill A and Holcombe Brook B under their belt, and David Lloyd comfortably dispatched the two newly-promoted teams, Bradshaw A and Markland Hill B, who have both to register any points this season.
In Division Two, newly-promoted David Lloyd (Bolton) B are top, with Walmer A and Lostock B second and third, respectively, while David Lloyd (Bolton) C and Walmer B lead the way in Division Three.
In Division Four, Hawkshaw C are looking strong with two wins. Barrow Bridge A also have a 100 per cent record with wins against Eagley A and Lostock E, while Lostock E and Hawkshaw D are still without points.
Meadow Hill are the only team to win two games in Division Five, while Barrow Bridge B and Lostock F have yet to register points.
Lostock C edged out fellow Division Three side Walmer B in a close-fought Cecil Cup preliminary round contest.
Walmer had a 20.5 handicap start which Lostock overturned to win 64-61.5 and set up a first-round game against Hawkshaw B.
Markland Hill E will play Bradshaw C, while in the other half of the draw, Division Five side Markland Hill E did not need their 20.5 handicap start as they comfortably defeated Walmer C from the same division 81.5-49.
Round one matches will be played on Tuesday, May 21, when current holders Elton Vale visit Barrow Bridge B.
Cecil Cup handicaps will be calculated from league positions as they stood yesterday, and secretaries will be notified by email on Sunday, May 19.
