BOLTON Snooker ace Craig Steadman admits he was pleased with his performance in the IDSF World Championships in Jordan after finishing in the top eight.
Steadman, who plays at Cuemasters in Walkden, was beaten by Indian Manan Chandra in the quarter-finals, after winning 13 matches on the trot in qualifying.
"I was gutted when I went out, but I have to admit I was pleased with the way things went," said Steadman.
"I was one of only two players to win all ten of my group matches and that meant I was seeded number one for the rest of the tournament.
"I won 5-1 in my last 32 game, and won on the black in the last 16. I then started to think that maybe I could win the event because I was playing near perfect snooker, and also having the rub of the green.
"But, I had a poor game in the quarter-finals and went out.
"It was a great experience to play abroad on different tables against different players, though."
And, Steadman also made his small- screen debut while in Jordan - behind the microphone!
"Because I became the number one seed, I got some big support from the locals in my knockout games," said Steadman.
"As a result, I did some commentary on some of the matches for the Internet and presented a live show every night on the television.
"It was a good experience and something I would like to do in the future. However, I know that it is mainly top former players who do it."
Steadman is now hoping to continue performing well in ranking tournaments in a bid to earn himself a place on the Pro Circuit next year.
"I am playing in ranking events in Leeds and Wales before Christmas and I hope to keep on a winning streak," added Steadman.
