A PUBLIC meeting to discuss job cuts at the Royal Bolton Hospital will take place this weekend.
The Save Bolton NHS campaign has organised the meeting for 1pm, on Saturday in the lecture theatre, in Bolton Central Library.
The group, which includes union members, health professionals and members of the public, have organised the meeting in response to job cuts at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust and regarding savings of £50 million over the next three years.
The trust’s interim chairman David Wakefield has said job cuts will not affect patient care, but the group have asked for redundancies to be suspended.
Karen Reissmann, campaign coordinator, said they did not want to let what happened in Mid Staffordshire happen in Bolton. She added: “We need all our NHS staff.
“We are asking Bolton’s Health and Scrutiny Committee to call on the trust to suspend all redundancies until a review can take place which properly assesses the risks of these cuts.”
