DOUGIE Freedman has revealed that Wanderers are in advanced talks with Stuart Holden about a new contract at the Reebok.
The US international, who signed today on a 28-day loan with Sheffield Wednesday, is close to extending his stay at the Reebok beyond next season.
“It's fantastic news that we'll be giving him a new contract,” the manager said. “I'm sending him out to get games because whatever I do is in Bolton's best interest. I am doing something that helps in the long run.”
Of the midfielder's loan move, Freedman said this afternoon: “Stu has played several reserve games but we're at the stage where he needs that test. I'm looking at the bigger picture because we've got young Josh Vela and Medo, and this move suits everyone.”
