DIETING duo Angela Morris and Ray Donnell had every bite of food they ate filmed for a TV show to help them to weight loss success.

The pair opened their lives — and contents of their fridge — to Channel 4’s “Secret Eaters” in the hope it would give them the kick start they needed to lose weight.

It did and now the couple plan to marry — having put their wedding plans on hold until Miss Morris could fit into her dream dress.

Miss Morris, a dental nurse at Horwich Dental Practice, said it was the endless “brews” with sugar that helped her pile on the pounds.

When she reached 14 stone she knew she had to do something.

“I’d always been a fan of the show so I decided to contact them and see if we would be accepted,” said 37-year-old Miss Morris.

They were accepted and filming started in December last year with the five-week eating plan starting in January.

Mr Donnell, a warehouse worker, who weighed in at 19 stone and was addicted to the locally infamous “pie butty” was equally keen to lose weight.

Cameras were rigged up in their Horwich home and the pair were filmed eating in the house and out and about.

They then travelled to London where the Secret Eaters’ team revealed the couple’s four day intake of food.

“It was a shock to see exactly what we ate. I discovered I was consuming a massive 500 calories in sugar in cups of tea alone and 800 calories in crisps and chocolate,” said Miss Morris.

Thanks to the show’s dietician, Lynne Garton, individual diet plans were devised and both Miss Morris and Mr Donnell have achieved weight loss success with Miss Morris losing 21lb — one-a-half stone — and Mr Donnell dropping 39lb — almost three stone. And they are still losing weight.

“It gave us the kick-start we needed,” said Miss Morris, who has changed her eating habits and now tucks into healthy snacks and meals rather than opting for take-aways after work.

It means a whole new wardrobe of clothes for each of them but neither is complaining and they are hoping to marry later in the year.

“My work trousers hang off me now but I’m really happy about that,” said Miss Morris.

The show which is presented by Anna Richardson, is not as invasive as it might appear, said Miss Morris, who has been delighted by the results.

The Horwich couple appears on Channel 4 tonight at 8pm.
