TWO people have been arrested after a car smashed into Bradshaw Conservative club.
It is believed the Volkswagen Golf was stolen from Central Snooker Club in Radcliffe at about 4.45pm on Monday when keys were taken from a coat pocket. The car was later spotted by police in Tonge Moor Road at about 8.30pm, and was followed.
It smashed into a lamp-post, through a concrete wall and into the side of Bradshaw Conservative Club.
Three men, who suffered minor injuries, fled the car and two of them were caught and arrested by police.
Officers are trying to track down the third man and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
Cllr Mudasir Dean, who represents Bradshaw, said: “This particular bend in the road has always been a worry. We have seen several serious accidents here, the property next to the club has been hit before.”
A resident who lives nearby said: “I heard a bang and looked out the window and saw a car had gone into the club.
“There have been two or three crashes on that bend as drivers go too fast.”
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 0161 856 7201.
