HOWEVER, and whenever, Kevin Davies bids his farewells to Bolton Wanderers, he will leave the club a legend in the eyes of the fans – a fact recognised by Whites chairman Phil Gartside in an exclusive statement to The Bolton News.
Gartside said: “On behalf of Bolton Wanderers staff and fans, I would like to place on record the football club’s sincere thanks to Kevin for everything he has done for us since he joined more than nine years ago.
“One of my proudest moments as Chairman, was when he got his England cap and made his debut at Wembley, no one deserved it more.
“There are many, many, more great moments involving Kevin, the FA Cup quarter-final penalty at St Andrews in front of the travelling Wanderers fans, his winning goal away at Wolves, his double against Spurs, and that night in Munich being one of the very special ones “As club captain, Kevin led us with great dignity on and off the field, and with his work with his own KiDs of Bolton, he has shown his commitment to giving a chance to those who may otherwise never get one.
“He is one of the greats to have pulled on a Wanderers shirt.”
