KEVIN Davies could still get a testimonial at Wanderers to reward his 10 seasons at the club, The Bolton News has learned.
Davies was told yesterday – on his 36th birthday – that he would not be offered a new deal when his current one-year contract expires at the end of this season.
He said his present deal ends five days before he will have served the club for 10 years, meaning he would miss out on a testimonial.
He said: “It would be nice to have a testimonial to say thank you for what I have done at Bolton but I am not entitled to one and I was aware, when I signed a new contract last year, that it would fall five days short.
“There was talk that the club may extend it by a week but the manager told me I wouldn’t be getting one.”
But The Bolton News understands the club has not ruled out Davies getting a testimonial.
The criteria is believed to involve the player making a written request to the club who will then consider it. And that is yet to happen.
