A CAR flipped over on to its roof after skidding across a snow-covered road in Horwich.
The driver managed to escape uninjured when his blue Fiat Punto overturned outside Bob’s Smithy Inn in Chorley Old Road at 10.10am on Sunday.
An ambulance was called to the incident and the driver was treated for shock. Police said the vehicle was not seriously damaged.
Heavy snow and gales caused treacherous driving conditions for motorists across Bolton over the weekend.
Police warned residents about danger spots such as Chorley Old Road and Old Kiln Lane through social networking sites.
Bolton Council gritters were out battling to keep roads clear and helping stranded drivers.
Bus companies were also forced to divert some of their services due to impassable roads, and Lock Lane in Lostock was blocked by five-foot snow drifts. The UK is already on course for the coldest March since 1970, compared to the third warmest March on record last year.
While no more snow is forecast for the next five days in Bolton, the cold snap is here to stay with temperatures remaining at just above freezing.
