OSTRICH meat and fresh Italian breads are among the tasty treats on offer at Bolton’s latest town centre attraction.
Victoria Square is playing host to an award-winning global market until Sunday, with traders from all over the world selling products from their homeland.
Market stall Meats of the World is
offering exotic products including ostrich, impala, crocodile and wild boar. Italian traders have brought biscotti, cakes and soft nougat, while German Schwenkegrille has some bratwurst sausage on offer. George the Greek is running his Greek deli and is selling breads, taramasalata, humous, olives and stuffed vine leaves, while French master baker Quignon is
offering fresh bread and French tarts.
Zuri Design is selling Fair Trade African arts and crafts, sourced
from projects and community initiatives across Africa, helping to
raise funds for good causes.
Cllr Christopher Peacock, Bolton Counci’s cabinet member for culture, said:
“It’s great that we’ve got a place like Victoria Square to host events like this on,
which is not only a good venue for hosting Bolton residents but a welcoming
one for visitors from outside Bolton too.
“I’m really looking forward to going down there and spending some of my heard
earned money, ostrich is particularly tasty — I can recommend it.”
The market is open today, from 9am to 5.30pm, and tomorrow, from 10am until 4pm.
