BOLTON actress Maxine Peake, pictured, will grace the prime time slot on Easter Sunday in a period drama. Peake will star in period drama The Village alongside actor John Simm, which was also penned by Silk writer Peter Moffat.
The six-part series will chart the life and turbulent times of one English
village between 1914 and 1920, filmed mainly in Hayfield, in the Peak District. Peake takes the main role of Grace Middleton, wife of John Middleton, played by Simm — a couple struggling to provide for their children. The first episode opens with the arrival of the first bus ever to stop in the village.
