DAVID Ngog admits he wants to be back in the Premier League next season – and aims to get there with Wanderers.

The young forward was again linked with a move away from the Reebok Stadium in the January transfer window, with Fulham, Newcastle and Dynamo Kiev believed to be interested.

But the £4million striker says speculation is part of the job and that it does not affect him.

He concedes the top flight is where every player wants to be plying their trade but is not looking beyond this season and the chance to help the Whites into the play-off shake-up come May.

Ngog told The Bolton News: “I am just focused here. I think the club is ambitious and things are going well at the moment.

“All I can do is try to do my best on the pitch.

“I wasn’t surprised [with transfer talk] – I think it’s just part of my job.

“It’s one of those things that happens outside the pitch and there’s nothing more I can do about it.

“For me, I am happy and focused on Bolton.

“I don’t let these things affect me, I just train and concentrate on my games.

“I think any player wants to play in the Premier League and Bolton want to be there as well.

“I still have to focus on the last games and I’ll see what happens after that.”

The former France Under-21 striker has certainly played an important role for Wanderers this campaign, even though eight of his 26 Championship appearances have come from the bench.

Ngog has six goals this season and in each of the five games he has found the net, his strikes have earned the Whites extra points – nine in total.

He netted the winner in boss Dougie Freedman’s first game against Cardiff, a late leveller at Brighton, a clincher at home to Burnley and the first in a 3-2 win at Barnsley.

And in the home game against next weekend’s opponents Charlton, he bagged a brace from the substitutes bench in a 2-0 win to earn rave reviews from both Freedman and his Addicks counterpart Chris Powell.

Wanderers fans will hope he can repeat the feat at The Valley next weekend and Ngog has confidence in his form under Freedman.

He added: “I am feeling good and I’ll give whatever I can for the team.

“Of course, the form of the team is helping me and my team-mates make me feel more comfortable too.

“I just try my best to make sure we win.”
