CARING children and staff at a nursery raised more than £600 during a week of fundraising.
Educare For Early Years, in Radcliffe, held a series of activities including a sponsored bounce, coffee morning and games. Nursery staff boosted the fundraising by £100 when they did a reverse bungee jump on Sunday.
And fundraising continues with bids being accepted until noon tomorrow for a signed Wayne Rooney book named My Decade In The Premier League.
One of the nursery’s chosen charities is The Christie, in honour of 29-year-old Ashlee Meecham, from Little Lever, who has terminal cancer. Miss Meecham grew up in Radcliffe and her daughter, three-year-old Miley, attends the nursery.
Money will also be given to Comic Relief and for social events at the nursery.
To make a bid for the signed book, call the nursery on 0161 724 9055.
l A comedy night featuring funnyman Carl Lawrence, at Little Lever Cricket Club on Friday, raised £100 for Miss Meecham. She will be able to use the money for her wedding to long-term boyfriend, Neil Disley, in May or for days out with their daughter. Lee White, who lives near Miss Meecham, organised the event as his wife Julie battled breast cancer last year.
