A MOVE to help residents save money on their electricity bills is spreading across Greater Manchester.
More than 35,000 people signed up to the GM Fair Energy scheme when it was launched in January and it has opened for registration for a second time.
When residents have signed up to the scheme, they are offered a new energy deal, which they can choose to accept or reject.
In January’s scheme, people across Greater Manchester saved a total of £3m on their bills, with some saving up to £900 a year. Now the scheme is open for registration again.
There are several registration sessions taking place across the borough in the next feweks. On Friday, there will be a session at Great Lever UCAN centre, between 10am and 12.30pm and at Farnworth UCAN centre, between 1pm and 4pm.
On Wednesday, March 27, and Thursday, March 28, between 10am and 4.30pm, there will be a session at the One Stop Shop, in Bolton Town Hall, and on Thursday, March 28, the idea can be discussed between 1.30pm and 4.30pm, at the Great Lever UCAN centre.
Anyone interested can also register online at gmfairenergy.com or by calling 0800 009 3363.
Bolton Council’s executive cabinet member for environment, Cllr Nick Peel, said: “For anyone who missed out last time I’d urge them to register now and find out how much they could save.
“Residents don’t even have to accept the offer so they really have nothing to lose by registering.”
