A COMEDY night is being held tomorrow to raise money for a 29-year-old mother-of-one who has terminal breast cancer.

Ashlee Meecham, aged 29, of Hereford Crescent, Little Lever, has been given just 18 months to live.

Friends, family and even strangers have rallied round the family to help them raise money so she can marry her long-term boyfriend, Neil Disley, aged 29.

They also want to raise memory money - a pool of money which can be used for days out or a weekend away with their three-year-old girl Miley.

The comedy night will be at Little Lever Cricket Club, Victory Road, from 8pm.

Lee White, who lives near Miss Meecham in Little Lever, decided to organise the fundraiser as his wife Julie battled breast cancer last year.

He said: “My wife went through a similar thing last year, she had breast cancer and she is hopefully through that now.

“It’s pay on the door, we’re just hoping for a good turn out.”

Mr White has enlisted the help of funnyman Carl Lawrence, who was snapped up by comedy club giant Jongleurs last year.

Mr White added: “I’ve known Carl for a while. It will be a good night, I just hope everybody turns out.”

Carl, who was brought up in Farnworth before moving to Little Lever and now lives in Wigan, will headline the night of comedy.

Also on the bill are Nina Smith and Joe Hughes, with Bobby Murdoch MC for the evening.

It is for strictly over 18s and tickets can be bought on the door, costing £9.
