A SPONSORED walk is being organised to allow a mother to share special experiences with her terminally-ill daughter.

Ashlee Meecham, has just 18 months to live after being diagnosed with breast cancer which has spread to her bones.

Her mum, Brenda Meecham, has inspired colleagues to join the fundraising mission.

Ann McLaughlin works with Mrs Meecham in Bury Council’s adult care department.

Several friends, relatives and even complete strangers have organised fundraisers in Miss Meecham’s honour, including for her wedding, funeral and for charity.

Mrs McLaughlin, aged 59, of Lever Street, Radcliffe, said: “I would love nothing more than to give Ashlee’s mum the chance to have some quality time with her and create some memories to hold close to her heart.”

Walkers should meet at 10.30am on Sunday, March 24, at the Swan And Cemetery pub in Manchester Road, Bury.

They will then drive to Owd Betts, in Edenfield Road, Norden, and set off on a six-mile walk over the hills.

Along the route they will walk up Knowl Hill, to Scout Moor wind farm and along Rossendale Way.

The walk — named the Ashlee Meecham Challenge — will take about four-and-a-half hours to complete and will go at the pace of the slowest walker.

It costs £5 per person to enter and sponsor forms will be available for anyone wishing to raise more money.

Anyone wishing to find out more can call Mrs McLaughlin on 0161 723 2230.

Miss Meecham, aged 29, who lives in Little Lever, is being treated at The Christie hospital.
