THE owner of one of Bolton’s biggest scrap merchants will take on planning chiefs in the final stage of a public inquiry.
Sean Chadwick, owner of SC Chadwick and Sons in Breightmet, is appealing against a decision by planners to block his proposals to extend the site.
Town hall chiefs also served the scrapyard with an enforcement notice after Mr Chadwick built two single-storey buildings, a concrete boundary wall and four metal lighting columns.
All of the structures were ordered to be dismantled by planning chiefs in July last year.
A public inquiry into the Oakenbottom Road scrap merchants opened at Bolton Town Hall in January but was adjourned when barristers ran out of time to issue their closing statements. The inquiry is due to resume tomorrow. (Thursday).
The opening two days of the inquiry was well attended by residents of Oakenbottom Road who were given the opportunity to question Mr Chadwick and his team of planning and environmental consultants.
The outcome of the appeal will be given in writing from the planning inspectorate around three weeks after the inquiry finished.
