TWO employees injured at an explosion at an industrial unit in Walkden are still being treated for burns in hospital.

The 54-year-old man and 31-year-old man remain in a stable condition at Wythenshawe Hospital following the blast at Adler and Allen in Harcourt Street last Tuesday.

The explosion is believed to have involved a diesel-powered pressure washer on the back of a truck.

The site was cordoned off for two days while the police, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and fire service carried out a joint investigation.

Adler and Allen, an oil and environmental services business, is now open again.

A spokesman for Adler and Allen said: “Our two employees have been in Wythenshawe Hospital since their admission last Tuesday afternoon.

“They continue to be well looked after and will be assessed further in coming days. We will continue to offer our support to them.

“The HSE left the site following meetings last Wednesday regarding the incident and Harcourt Street was reopened that day. The waste facility is now open following the incident.”

One of the men was rescued by a mechanic from a neighbouring car business Classicarco.
