A PUB in Horwich will be converted into a shop, if plans are given the go-ahead by the council.
Convenience store chain Nisa Local plans to demolish part of the Victoria Hotel in Chorley New Road as part of the conversion.
The proposals include a new shop front, air conditioning and the bricking up of various openings at the side and rear of the building.
The side toilet block will be demolished if plans are granted.
But some residents have raised concerns about the plans.
One neighbour, who made an anonymous comment on the council’s planning website, said: “Why do we need a store here? There is a very good one next door, a newsagents convenience store across the road, a 24-hour garage a hundred yards away, Horwich centre less than a quarter of a mile away and Middlebrook Retail and Leisure Park.”
