EPL ICE HOCKEY:

Saturday: Manchester Phoenix 7 Peterborough Phantoms 2

Sunday: Bracknell Bees 3 Manchester Phoenix 8

Free-scoring Manchester Phoenix stretched their winning run to six games this weekend.

At home on Saturday in front of a bumper crowd for the second successive week, Phoenix took on Peterborough Phantoms. Phantoms have been a tricky proposition this season, and in a topsy-turvy first period, it looked like the East Anglia outfit could cause problems again.

James Archer put Phoenix ahead after four minutes, but Ondrej Lauko equalised five minutes later.

Michal Psurny gave Phoenix the lead again on 12 minutes, only for Lauko to grab his second to tie the game again within three minutes.

Phoenix, however, are enjoying a rich run of form in front of the net, and goals from Ondrej Pozivil and Bari McKenzie saw them pull ahead in the second period, and Manchester took complete control in the final period when McKenzie, Psurny and Archer all grabbed their second of the night to emphasise Phoenix’s dominance of the tie.

The goalfest continued on Sunday, when Phoenix travelled to Berkshire to take on the Bracknell Bees.

Phoenix held a narrow 4-3 lead after two periods with two goals from Bari McKenzie, as well as markers from Michal Psurny and James Archer, but they simply ran riot in the third period. Liam Chong extended Phoenix’ lead on 43 minutes, but eight minutes from time, a frantic two and a half minute period saw Andy McKinney, Luke Boothroyd and Joachim Flaten smash three more into the Bees’ net to record a resounding 8-3 victory.
