GOALKEEPER Adam Bogdan hopes to give Wanderers manager Dougie Freedman a selection dilemma with an early return to fitness ahead of Saturday’s trip to Ipswich.

The 25-year-old has missed the last two Championship games against Blackburn and Brighton after aggravating a groin problem in the away win at Barnsley.

After a scan, boss Dougie Freedman thought his first-choice stopper may miss up to three weeks.

But Bogdan has given the club a boost with a return to light training after just nine days.

And he told The Bolton News he is hopeful of being back in full training before the visit to Portman Road and the international break.

Bogdan said: “I hope to be fit by the end of this week.

“My recovery is going very well.

“I trained on the grass a little yesterday so hopefully things will go well and I can train with the rest of the team this week.

“It is frustrating when you are out injured but I was very lucky in the last year because I didn’t miss a game.

“I have played a lot of games and been enjoying it. But you cannot do anything about injuries, you just have to react in the right way and be fit as soon as possible and get going again.”

In Bogdan’s absence, summer signing Andy Lonergan has stepped in and kept back-to-back clean sheets in consecutive 1-0 victories at the Reebok Stadium.

And while he naturally wants his place between the sticks back, Bogdan is happy for his training partner.

He said: “Goalkeepers train together and Andy and I spend most of our time in training together.

“Of course, I want to be playing but when Andy comes in, I wish him all the best.

“At the end of the day, the main thing is for you to do your best in training and games and do everything to get in the team.

“If you have done that, you then have to just wish whoever plays all the best.

“It is the manager who decides, at the end of the day, who plays.

“You don’t wish anyone an injury or a bad game, but you always want to play.”

Like every member of the Whites squad, the current positive mood around the camp means Bogdan is itching to get back involved.

And he believes it is vital to notch up a sixth straight win in Suffolk this weekend if they are to keep their play-off challenge on track.

He added: “We have had rough times and frustrating games this season.

“At this moment, it looks like everything has clicked together.

“As a team we are defending really well and winning games.

“We have five straight wins and are unbeaten in eight, which is a good run.

“If we want to go up or into the play-offs we have to keep winning.”
