WANDERERS are likely to move on “Plan B” after Leicester City made it clear that Jeffrey Schlupp would not be allowed out on loan.
As reported in The Bolton News on Thursday, Dougie Freedman had made tentative enquiries about the Ghana international after it appeared his chances of a move to Manchester United were receding.
Schlupp had been on trial at Old Trafford since January and tipped to sign a £1.5million deal, but was called back by the Foxes for their weekend defeat against Sheffield Wednesday.
It was his first start for the club since November, but, with Paul Konchesky injured, Nigel Pearson has let it be known he will not be allowing the 20-year-old to leave the club until the end of the season.
United maintain an interest but Freedman has already started to look elsewhere in his efforts to bolster his front line before the end of the month.
Wanderers have been frustrated in their bid to loan a Premier League-class player in the last couple of months, with Fulham turning down an offer for Kerim Frei.
