POLICE are hunting two men responsible for a string of robberies.
Since September, 2012, there have been nine robberies which police believe may be the work of just two people.
Police believe a robbery at the Weekender Off Licence, in Chapel Street, Leigh, on November 3, last year, and one at the Costcutters, in Bolton Road, Atherton, on November 6, 2012, are the work of the same man. During the first robbery, a man wearing a scarf around his face went into the off-licence at about 5.30pm brandishing a hammer. The Costcutters robbery took place just after 7pm and again, a man wearing a scarf around his face, threatened a female member of staff with a claw hammer.
The other seven robberies, which police suspect another man is responsible for, took place at the Cost Less store in Wigan Road on November 5, the McDonald’s fast food restaurant in Tyldesley Road, Atherton, on November 15, and December 3, a the KFC restaurant on the Parsonage Retail Park on 2November 23, a McDonald’s in Stone Cross on December 13 and the West Leigh Post Office on both the September 21 and on December 15.
