A PAEDOPHILE who was banned from accessing private computers has been sentenced after being caught downloading indecent images of young girls on his father’s computer.
Stephen Ramsey, aged 59, was convicted of possessing indecent images of children at Bolton Crown Court in 2008, and was made the subject of a sexual offences prevention order, banning him from accessing the internet unless at a library or the Quest Centre.
But last July police seized a computer from the home of Ramsey’s elderly father and discovered Ramsey had used the computer to download 140 level one indecent images of children, the least serious level, of girls aged under 13.
The crimes are thought to have taken place between April 4 and July 25 last year.
Ramsey’s father was put at risk of prosecution by his son and he was unaware Ramsey was not allowed to use the internet on private computers.
Ramsey, of Cotswold Drive in Horwich, admitted possessing indecent photographs of children and breaching the sexual offences prevention order.
At Bolton Crown Court yesterday Judge Elliot Knopf sentenced Ramsey to a three-year community order, an indefinite sexual offenders prevention order, he was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for five years and complete the Northumbria Sex Offender Group work Programme. The programme aims to reduce sex offending by men.
