A BOLTON firm which specialises in services linked to tendering processes is celebrating the latest success for one of its North West clients.
Thornton and Lowe has helped Kingdom Security to win a three-year security guard contract for a London school.
St Helens-based Kingdom will provide services for the Capital City Academy in London.
Dave Thornton, Thornton and Lowe’s operations director, said he was delighted with the deal which follows other successful tendering bids with Kingdom.
He said: “This latest contract success highlights the continued commitment of our staff and the team and service which Kingdom can offer.
“This partnership has been brought together for the long haul and it shows that, when the right businesses work together, they can succeed despite the current economic climate.”
Thornton and Lowe has been providing tender-writing support and guidance for Kingdom since July, 2012.
Mr Thornton said it has been “all hands to the pump” with the firm working on more than 23 projects to date and with a continually improving success rate.
Mark Wallace, Kingdom’s senior operating executive, said: “Our partnership with Thornton and Lowe has opened new doors for our business and is supporting us to meet our targets for growth.”
Mr Thornton, a former Deane High School pupil who later studied at Leeds University, said the formal procurement and tendering sector is big business and not restricted only to the public sector either. More private sector organisations are taking this formal route to buy goods, services and work.
Mr Thornton said: “Bids are always time-critical and driven by strict deadlines, but we have technical writers, bid co-ordinators, tender writers and bid managers to handle the different aspects.”
The firm has clients across the UK, ranging from housing, environmental and health to security sectors, and from small and medium-sized Bolton firms to large national corporate firms such as Bosch Healthcare.
The Chorley New Road firm currently has eight staff but hopes to expand to 12 in coming months.
It is a member of Bolton’s Business For Breakfast networking group, run by Eric and Lorraine Henshaw, which meets fortnightly at venues including The last Drop Hotel, Bromley Cross, and the Mercure Georgian House hotel in Blackrod.
