TWO elderly women were among seven people taken to hospital — three of them on spinal boards — following a road traffic collision in Bolton.
A specialist rescue team from Leigh Fire Station had to use cutting equipment to free the women after their car was in collision with a single-decker bus in Fletcher Street, Great Lever at around 3pm on Saturday.
They were taken to hospital and five passengers from the bus — two men and three women — were also taken to hospital.
A spokeswoman for North West Ambulance Service said: “Four people were taken to Bolton Hospital on one of our patient transport vehicles with injuries that were not serious, two were taken on spinal boards to Bolton Hospital and another on a spinal board to Wigan Hospital.
“The patient taken to Wigan had a possible fractured leg.”
