Frances CLARK

Frances Clark of Westhoughton, Bolton, passed peacefully on July 1, 2024, aged 85. Her final days were spent surrounded by family. Frances loved to learn and to teach. She was a voracious reader and an avid gardener, always happy to share her knowledge. Frances began teaching cookery in 1977, and later a confectionery design and decoration class ignited a passion that continued throughout her life. Frances taught hundreds of students the art of cake decoration and touched the lives of many by creating magnificent cakes for birthdays, weddings, and special occasions. Her importance in the field was recognized when she became Chairperson of the NW Sugar Craft Guild. Above all, Frances was most proud of her children and grandchildren, who, with her love and support, have all flourished in their careers and family lives. Frances leaves behind her loving family: her daughter Helen and her husband, John; her son John and his wife, Suzanne; and her son Alistair, his wife, Julie, and her grandchildren Oliver, Toby, and Charlotte. Frances was predeceased by her brothers, Peter and Stephen, and is survived by her sister, Marian, and her husband, Dave.

A funeral service for Frances will be held on Wednesday, July 10th, at 4 p.m. at Howe Bridge Crematorium, Atherton, Wigan. In lieu of flowers, a fund has been established with Cowburn Funeral Service in Frances's memory for Wilfred Geere House to recognize their kindness in caring for both Frances and Ron in their hour of need.
