Thieves armed with sticks raided a dental surgery in south Manchester.
The robbery happened at the Maple Road Dentists on Maple Road, Brooklands, at about 6.15pm on Monday.
A gang of three masked men brandishing sticks and a brick went into the reception area and demanded money.
After stealing a quantity of cash they fled.
No one was injured during the theft but the staff inside were left badly shaken up.
The gang were all wearing balaclavas and dark clothing.
Police are now appealing to anyone who has information about the incident to come forward.
Detective Constable Ben Hart, from West Didsbury CID, said: "This was a frightening incident for staff who were confronted by a gang of masked men quite prepared to use the threat of violence just to get their hands on some cash.
"We need to apprehend this gang so I would urge anyone who has information about the incident to come forward."
Anyone with information should call West Didsbury CID on 0161 856 6152 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
