A woman who died after being trapped in a car following a crash in Wigan has been named.
She is Cerri Sharples, aged 38, of Church Drive, Orrell. The collision involving a silver Peugeot 206 and a red Toyota MR2 at the junction of Scott Lane and Woodhouse Drive happened at about 10.30pm last night.
Officers attended along with the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and found a man and a woman trapped in the Toyota.
Both were freed from the car but the woman, who was driving, was pronounced dead en route to the hospital.
The man sustained cuts and bruising and also suffered a minor head injury and is currently at the Wigan Royal Infirmary.
The driver and the passenger of the Peugeot, two women, suffered minor cuts.
Police are now appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to call the Area One Road Policing Unit on 0161 856 7202.
