LARGE turnips and bizarrely shaped carrots will battle it out for prestige and prizes at the Edgworth and district horticultural show.
This year will see the introduction of a new photography category as well as the return of last year's scarecrow category.
There will also be the usual light-hearted competitions, including heaviest potato, longest runner bean and oddest shaped vegetable.
Show secretary David Spencer said: "We've got a full display of fruit, vegetables, flowers, handicrafts and floral arts this year. It's usually packed out and very successful. It's a good old village show that keeps the community alive."
The show is at the Barlow Institute, Bolton Road, Edgworth, on Saturday, August 16, from 2pm to 4pm.
