PEOPLE aged over-50 in Edgworth can take advantage of free home energy checks aimed at keeping them warm and saving them cash.
Charity Age Concern and energy supplier E.ON UK are offering home visits from trained volunteers who can give on-the-spot advice about how to easily boost energy efficiency. Residents will then be referred to a range of other organisations that may be able to offer financial assistance to install energy-saving measures.
The initiative is part of the EnergyRight scheme set up in Edgworth last year. Participants will also be given two low energy light bulbs.
Vicky Shepherd, of Age Concern, said "Older people should be able to afford to heat their homes and often they just don't have the information to know how they could potentially save money.
"This scheme will help older people get the support they need to be more energy efficient and, hopefully, save money on their fuel bills. We are delighted to be running the scheme in our area and we hope many older people will take advantage of this service."
