The Bolton News is delighted to announce the regular inclusion of a food column written by a former Great British Bake Off contestant.

Regular readers will be aware that Makbul 'Mak' Patel, who starred in the 2020 series of the hit TV show, wrote four articles for The Bolton News over the course of June.

His sumptuous recipes last month included a jubilee trifle, a Manchester tart, milk buns and Lancashire Pastries.

Mak, who is from Bolton, taught himself how to bake and initially began cooking at home as a way of supporting his mother.

Going forward, Mak will be providing a baking and cooking offering for The Bolton News every second and fourth Saturday of the month.

His latest recipe, which will be Eid al-Adha-themed, will be published this coming Saturday (July 9).

Mak's column will be exclusively available to readers who buy the print edition of The Bolton News or those with a digital subscription.
