A TALENTED young singer is looking forward to a homecoming gig in Bolton to showcase his latest music.
Jordan Allen, aged 20, from Westhoughton, has been busy playing dates across the country and will hold a launch event for his three-track EP, Remembered, on Saturday, March 29.
He will be joined at The Blind Tiger, Nelson Square, by singer and acoustic guitar player Danny Quin, also from Westhoughton, Salford four-piece band The Nankeens and Manchester singer-songwriter Ryan Jarvis.
His single Rich and Famous has been making waves on the music scene, including airtime on BBC Radio 6 Music, and Manchester City used a clip of his track Remembered to preview the Barcelona game on the club’s website last month.
Jordan, a former Bolton School pupil, said: “I finished my single and released it in August, it got a great reaction.
“It got exposure on national and international radio.
“I started recording again and I’ve recorded a three track EP at Redbridge Studios in Bolton. It’s called Remembered.
“I finished it a month ago and the launch party will be at Blind Tiger.
“It’s the first time I’ve played back in Bolton for a good year.
“It’s exciting to come back after I’ve been around the country, I’ve been everywhere.
“The show is completely free and I'll be giving free copies of the EP to the first 50 people in.
“Following that, I’ve got a big show in Manchester at Ruby Lounge with Clint Boon and The Tapestry.”
Jordan, who has been compared to the likes of Alex Turner, John Cooper Clarke, Jake Bugg and Jamie T, will then travel back down to London to play The Purple Turtle in Camden, organised by This Feeling — the UK's biggest promoter of new music.
He said: “It’s great. It’s exciting.
“I’ve come such a long way.
“In the early days, I was playing little gigs in Westhoughton and now I’m playing with some of my idols.
“I’m living beyond what I thought I would ever be and now it would be good to see how far I get, see if I can play some big festivals and if I can maybe make an album which depends on the success of the EP.”
Doors for the free Blind Tiger gig, on Saturday, March 29, open at 8pm.
