A NEW initiative by two Army veterans is helping introduce others to what Bolton has to offer.
Moving Forces Bolton was created by Dave Carter and Simon Cass, ex-Royal Artillery and ex-Royal Army Physical Training Corps, respectively.
The group meets monthly, on Saturday or Sunday mornings at 10 am, to walk for a couple of hours somewhere in the countryside surrounding the town.
The walks so far have been to Rivington and have attracted more than 30 people, including fellow veterans, their families and their dogs.
The venture is initially being supported by the Bolton Guild of Help – Bolton Veterans’ Aid.
Richard Davies, one of the Guild’s Trustees, said: “The benefits of getting out and about in the natural environment are well-known and they are really important as we start getting back to some sort of normality post Covid.”
The next walk takes place on Sunday April 3, starting from Walker Fold carpark on Walker Fold Road at 10am. For more information go to Facebook Moving Forces: Bolton or email movingforcesbolton@oulook.com
