ARSENE Wenger and some Arsenal fans appear to have developed a degree of snobbery in recent times.

They seem to think that the opposition should always try to play good football against them.

Wenger has a tantrum on the sideline when teams waste time or put 10 men in defence. Listen to football phone-ins and read newspaper sports postbags and you'll see evidence the Arsenal fans feel the same.

Wanderers fans know what it's like to get on the wrong side of Arsenal. That's because they try to stop Arsenal from playing, a course of action which does not go down well with Wenger or his fans.

In a letter which appeared in the Guardian, Andrew Dedman, of Teddington, was critical of the Wanderers' tactics which earned the Whites an away draw in the FA Cup this season, writing: "I witnessed Bolton wasting time after 15 minutes. Having paid £96 for two tickets, it is galling to watch a team intent on ensuring the game is not played."

Another fan said on a radio phone-in that Aston Villa deserved to lose to Arsenal at Villa Park a fortnight ago because they killed the game at the Emirates on the opening day of the season. What do they expect? If teams try to put on a show against Arsenal, they'll get hammered.

And, while that might keep the Emirates fans happy, they are living in cloud cuckoo land if they expect teams to play to Arsenal's strengths. They shouldn't forget that Arsenal introduced mind-numbingly dull football to the Premiership when they earned the nickname Boring Arsenal'.

Instead of complaining about teams trying to shut them out, maybe they should have a go at their own side for not being able to break them down.
