THE big sport of the weekend is Kell Brook's IBF world welterweight title fight with Jo Jo Dan tomorrow night.
Brit Brook should be getting it on with Bolton's Amir Khan if boxing was like most other sports and the best in the country competed against each other automatically.
But the to-ing and fro-ing that goes on in the fight game means we'll probably have to be subjected to several months of trash talking and hype before they agree (or not) to meet.
In football there's a little matter of England v Lithuania in a European Championship qualifier tonight. When are we going to stop these pointless international games and have a system whereby only teams of equal standing play each other?
Horse racing kicks off its flat season on the turf tomorrow with the annual season-opener at Doncaster, and that can only mean one thing – The Bolton News' popular annual Naps competition gets underway and runs for the next eight months.
Who will win that £500 first prize (sponsored by Anthony Axford timber merchant) for being Bolton's best (or luckiest) tipster?
Blessed relief comes on Sunday when the Cricket World Cup is finally put out of its misery with the final between Australia and New Zealand.
When did that competition start? Seems like about 2010!
