I WAS pleased to read that Dr Brian Iddon was taking an interest in the accidents that have happened in the last three to four years on Stoneclough Road / Market Street (Bolton Evening News, January 11 MP demands action after second fatality on road).
But, in actual fact, I know of three more fatalities. One child was killed in the village, and a boy and a man were killed on the same stretch of road.
I have been to police meetings since 1994, and have complained every time about the speed of vehicles travelling through the village.
Something should be done about the traffic in and out of the village. We have European lorries going to Kearsley Mill, traffic going to the stables at the top of Seddon Lane, plus all other traffic of people who live in the village.
And now, to add to the congestion, more houses are being built. Is there no let up?
No one wants to know. We are just another village, and as long as you pay your bills that's all that matters to the council. They couldn't care less.
Mrs P Carey Seddon Lane Stoneclough
