IT is clear from Deborah Dunleavy’s response to Mr Jack Rossiney that either she had not read or not understood the letter (response published on November 24 to letter from November 19).
Mr Rossiney was praising the decision to renew the Post Office Card Account, which will be important to the future of the post office network.
As always, Ms Dunleavy stooped to a personal attack. Yet if she had done her research, she would know that David Crausby has been one of the MPs leading the campaign to keep the card account with post offices.
If the Post Office network had lost this contract, the National Federation of Sub-Postmasters estimated that up to 3,000 more branches would have been at risk of closure.
It is real campaigning such as this that will keep the post office network alive.
Despite Ms Dunleavy’s claim to hold strong views on the post office network, I contacted her about the issue in June this year and I am still awaiting a reply.
It is easy to criticise when you are in opposition.
