I FEEL I must write and keep the momentum going before it is too late.
While I, for one, am glad that the threatened demolition of Clarence Street Community Centre has sparked off a good debate between the readers of The Bolton News, it shows that people care what is happening to OUR town but can do nothing.
Whereas people who can do something, such as our MPs, remain strangely silent as usual, so no surprises there.
It’s obvious they do not care what happens to the town they are supposed to represent.
Not one of them has voiced their opinions, for or against. Yet if it was one of their “ivory towers” that was threatened with demolition they would soon be spurred into action.
Come election time they’ll be there kissing babies.
If the demolition of Clarence Street community centre happens and it does become a car park, I wonder which MP will be “cutting the ribbon” to get their “mugs” in the paper.
Remember MPs, Clarence Street has stood for a 100 years unchallenged, while you “standing” in parliament is only for four or so, if you are lucky.
