I COMMISERATE with Alan Calvert in The Bolton News (November 24), and his rather forlorn bus ride around Bolton on the new Metroshuttle, bus number 500.
Even so, I cannot help feeling that it would be a good idea to extend this service to include Sainsbury’s retail park.
There are several well-known stores there now, and I think it would be a popular move for shoppers, particularly since T K Maxx moved there from the town centre a few months ago.
By a strange coincidence, I was approached this week by three visitors to Bolton — from Preston and Wigan — who expressed their surprise and disappointment that T K Maxx had moved.
None of them had a clue where Sainsbury’s retail park was, so all I could do was to point them in the right direction, and via the crossings from the train station.
It was the best I could offer, since we were in Crompton Place at the time.
It can only be hoped that the Metroshuttle service will do better, all in good time.
