I REFER to the proposed building of a Tesco supermarket at Longcauseway (“Tesco pledge if planned new supermarket gets go-ahead,” November 25).
Farnworth is already adequately served by such retail outlets so another one is totally unnecessary.
The land in question could be put to much better use serving the population as a whole — and certainly something for the younger generation who seem to have very few facilities in the Farnworth area.
Perhaps Tesco could venture into other areas if they are so concerned about unemployment? If anyone thinks that yet another supermarket will make Farnworth into a thriving town centre once again, they are living in cloud- cuckoo land.
