WITH regards to the letter, “BNP is still legal” (November 22), of course it is, and what a travesty that is.
Let’s be clear who these people really are, they are a fascist party.
They hide behind our laws whilst peddling their racist doctrine.
They will use any argument that plays on the fears of the public at large — at present that just happens to be Muslims. In the past, it has been the Afro-Caribbean people and it could be the Jews again in the future, who knows?
If the people of this country fall for this poison, then we will be in real trouble, just like Europe in the 1930s and ’40s.
From 1939 to 1945, fascism was responsible for the deaths of 50 million people in Europe.
Among those was my uncle and my father, who spent six years of his life fighting these people. He taught me that fascism should never be allowed to raise its head again.
So what do I read in my local paper? Mr “Belmont Road” saying that the BNP is a legal party.
You may say that under our democracy we have free speech, but under the BNP no one would have free speech.
I must ask, does Mr “Belmont Road” support the BNP’s racist ideas and all that implies?
Most Bolton families would have suffered at the hands of the German Nazi war machine in the last war — just look at all the war memorials.
The people of this country need to ask themselves a question: “Do we really want all that again?”
