I WAS furious to read that the Royal Bolton Hospital had spent time and money checking visitors’ hands for cleanliness.
May I suggest that the hospital invests its monies in training their own staff how to “barrier nurse” efficiently.
My younger brother died in the Royal Bolton Hospital earlier this year from MRSA and C Diff, neither of which were recorded on his death certificate. The afternoon of his death we sat outside his ward waiting to see him and were totally shocked to see nurses and doctors wandering in and out without changing aprons, washing hands etc.
They certainly weren’t paying attention to the numerous notices in bright yellow stating barrier nursing was in operation. It is no wonder the infections continue as the so-called barrier nursing does not seem to exist at Bolton.
There is an urgent need for this to be investigated.
