AFTER systematically targeting almost every main arterial road in Bolton, our white line reducers eventually provoked the wrath of “Name and Address Supplied”, (The Bolton News, Monday, November 17), voicing his concern over the dubious reason to cause congestion in Bury Road.
As one-by-one, different parts of Bolton have been systematically targeted and dealt with, the sudden outrage about Bury Road reminds me of the “Statement of Universal Values”.
In Germany, the Nazis first came for the Communists and I did not speak up because I was not a Communist.
They then came for the Jews and I did not speak up because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists and I did not speak up because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics and I did not speak up because I was not a Catholic.
Then they came for me . . . and by that time there was no-one to speak up for anyone.
Looks like “Divide and Conquer” still lives long after the Iron Lady.
