I AM appalled that the councillors and officers in this authority can’t seem to get their act together when making decisions.

The councillors have decided that the new car park planned for Bath Street is not in keeping with the surrounding area and needs slight re-designing.

Yet we see the planned demolition of a building (Clarence Street) that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye within the same area and well within keeping of its surrounding buildings.

Is this just a case that the new car park will clash with a sound architectural building like Clarence Street or that it will not look as bad when compared to a flat makeshift garage? Surely the damage was done years ago when Churchgate was decimated by modern architects wanting to put their mark on the environment.
