IN response to Eddie Birchall’s letter in The Bolton News (November 4)— I have never read such a load of rubbish.
Once United Utilities has finished the Go Ape venue, it will only be the tip of the iceberg before Rivington is destroyed completely.
It will no longer be a country park, but a theme park.
If Mr Birchall thinks the Go Ape development will stop vandalism, he is very much mistaken, this will also be vandalised.
I walk into Rivington every day — not once a fortnight — and feel extremely lucky to live close to such a beautiful place.
People of Bolton, please let’s stand together or soon there will be nothing left to enjoy. Lord Leverhulme left this for us and future generations, and we must fight to keep it.
I suggest Eddie Birchall, youth worker, takes his youths to another theme park — there are plenty about.
