I WAS pleased to hear the good news about the Post Office Card Account (“Post Office to keep benefits contract”, November 14).
The card account is an important source of income and brings customers through the doors of post offices across the country, as was reported in the story entitled “Post offices in fight for keep pensions” (November 11) About four million people receive their benefits and pensions this way, including around two million pensioners. If this move helps to keep local post offices in Bolton open then it can only be a good thing.
By giving the contract to the Post Office instead of a private sector company, the Government has shown that it has listened to what sub-postmasters and the public want.
Thanks also to our local MP, David Crausby, who has campaigned in Parliament on this issue.
