I FEEL I have to put pen to paper , to say how disgusting it is that 400 ladies (perhaps under the circumstances, that is probably not the word to use for them) have still not returned their sponsorship money for the Midnight Memories sponsored walk (“Midnight Memories walkers cash appeal”, November 7).

I have done this walk for two years and, like myself, there are a lot of ladies who have paid in their money that was given to us in good and trusting faith.

But these ladies, for whatever reason, have not done the same and I fear they have given the rest of us a bad name.

I hope that is not the case but I think people will be reluctant to sponsor anyone in future and that the people doing the walk will feel compromised in asking for sponsorship.

So not only have these ladies withheld much-needed money, they have also done a lot of damage to a wonderful fundraising event.

Bolton Hospice will know exactly who these people are, as their names and addresses with amounts pledged are kept at the time of registering on the night of the event.

So I say, for the sake of the good name of all the honest walkers who do this event for the hospice, name them and shame them.

Before the walk, The Bolton News printed all 1,500 walkers’ names. Perhaps it would be happy to name the 400?

Perhaps also we should remember it is a Midnight “Memories” Walk, so where is the respect for the people whose name they walked in memory of?

To my sponsors, I say a big thank you for your faith and trust in me, and I can assure you that I did not let you down.
