I READ with interest the letter from the secretary of Brazley Residents Association and would like to point out some facts to him (November 3).
Firstly, he stated that I am an association member.
I am not a member and do not receive official invitations to any meetings, especially their AGM where they are elected. Most other residents do not receive invitations or newsletters either!
Another fact for former Labour Party candidate Mr McKeon is that three of the councillors pictured (October 23) were there as residents. Only one was there in the capacity as a ward councillor.
It is disappointing that he chose to use his office as secretary of a non- political group to have a political dig at the Lib-Dems, something that has been done before by this group.
I would also point out that residents who live around the area which was originally a landscaped area with seating for elderly people and mums, will, under the plans, have a large sports area with 10ft fencing around it. Such a fence will affect their quality of life — placed there by an association standing up for residents!
I would also point out that many letters of objection have been sent to planners, along with a petition with 33 signatures against it.
It may also be of interest to Mr McKeon that councillors and residents did have dialogue with the association, their views were ignored and the association went to Labour councillors in Bolton, outside of the Horwich ward, who instructed officers to help with the project. These officers knew about the plans before the ward councillors did!
Where was the dialogue there, Mr McKeon? Objectors have spoken to the association but they do not listen, and this plan was submitted without residents being shown plans or consulting with those affected.
