A READER asks “why is our life so different in Britain?” (Letters, November 5). The reason is family life coupled with religion.
Europe and Germany are mainly Catholic. My friends from Slovenia were shocked at the way of life in Britain.
As a family we have relatives in Germany near to Frankfurt, at weekends shops and factories shut down.
HGVs are banned on Sunday, except for necessities, and at weekends families are out together, walking or doing sports.
As for the non-congestion charge, Germany is a massive land mass compared to Britain, here too perhaps more space less stress?
Germany generally cares for one another, even the graveyards are an experience in itself, so immaculate, swept every day, flowers replaced weekly. In death the Germans care.
Britain used to be like Germany, the government has systematically swept Jesus away, particularly the Church of England. Still strong families can be witnessed in the Catholic, Muslim and Hindu communities etc.
A large number of British families are spiritually lost, some look for contentment in alcohol and drugs, many believe money is the be all and end all.
I would recommend anyone to have a family holiday in Germany. We love the country, its people and their original fantastic way of life.
